The sun was shining brightly as we stepped off the cruise ship and set out for an exciting afternoon walk through St. John, the capital of the Canadian province of New Brunswick.
We started at the bustling Marco Polo Cruise Port and made our way through the heart of the city. Our first stop was Queen’s Square, a historic public park dating back to the late 18th century. This serene oasis features a large central fountain and provides a peaceful respite from the bustling city.
Trinity Anglican Church

As we walked down Charlotte St, we spotted Trinity Anglican Church in the distance. This awe-inspiring church is one of Saint John’s oldest and most historic, with a rich history dating back to the early 1800s.

The church’s Gothic Revival architecture and intricate stained-glass windows are said to be breathtaking, depicting scenes from the Bible and the church’s history.
King’s Square

Next, we arrived at King’s Square, a public park featuring a beautiful bandstand dating back to the park’s construction in 1908.

The bandstand has played an important part in the city’s history, hosting numerous outdoor concerts and events over the years.

Crossing the street to Saint John City Market, we were immediately struck by the inviting aroma of fresh bread and baked goods. The market has been a bustling hub of activity since its construction in 1876, with a vibrant energy that draws in locals and visitors alike. We enjoyed perusing the locally made crafts and food on display.
St. John Stone Anglican Church

As we continued our walking tour in Saint John, we stumbled upon the stunning St. John Stone Anglican Church. This well-preserved Georgian-style building, constructed in the early 1800s, caught our attention with its striking stone exterior and intricate stained-glass windows.

We briefly went inside the church to appreciate its beauty and history and were impressed with the ornate woodwork and intricate carvings throughout the space. After taking a moment to admire it all, we continued on with our walking tour.

The Loyalist House

Continuing our walking tour, we walked past the Loyalist House, a beautiful Georgian-style home built in 1810 and once owned by a wealthy loyalist family. The house has been immaculately preserved and now serves as a museum, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the history of the loyalist settlers in Saint John.

Saint John Waterfront

As we continued walking, we reached the Saint John Waterfront, a beautiful area that played a significant role in the city’s shipping industry.

The New Brunswick Museum is also located here, where visitors can learn about the natural history, geology, and culture of the area.
